ALI THOMSON
WRITER / PRODUCER
Although born and
raised in Glasgow, Scotland, Ali has spent most of his working life in London
and Los Angeles. His early career began as a hit singer and recording artist
in the USA, but it is his work as a songwriter and record producer that has
established him in the music industry. His songs or productions have featured
on a variety of different international artists recordings and sales to date
are almost 20 million. He has been honoured with ASCAP and SOCAN song writing
awards and was nominated for a GRAMMY for his work with Italian singing diva,
Laura Pausini. In 2007 Ali was also nominated for an EMMY Award for co-writing,
along with Andreas Carlsson and Jorgen Elofsson, the theme song to a Fox Television
animated children’s show. His song writing is not restricted to one style
or genre and he is happy to contribute as lyricist or music composer on mainstream
pop or more alternative/acoustic guitar music. He has achieved much of this
success co-writing with recording artists.
As well as continuing to write in the more conventional pop/rock world (No1
albums in Holland and South Africa this year), Ali has recently been commissioned
to work on film projects. He co-wrote the theme song for the hugely successful
British comedy “St Trinians”, performed by Girls Aloud and produced
the theme song for the children’s animated film “Quest for a heart”,
performed by British singing legend Lisa Stansfield. He has worked as a “sound
designer” and composer on a variety of TV campaigns.
Ali is an accomplished guitar and keyboard player, has advanced expertise in
music creation software like Logic Audio or Pro Tools and has a small studio
in his farmhouse in Hampshire.
