SHADY BARD
SONGWRITER / BAND
Shady Bard’s
debut album, From The Ground Up, is out now on Static Caravan Recordings in
the UK and on XTAL Records in Japan. Described as a miniature indie orchestra,
their line-up includes violin, cello and French horn alongside guitars, piano,
percussion and samples, and the Birmingham five-piece have been drawing comparisons
to Mercury Rev, Sparklehorse, Low, Nick Cave and Godspeed.
They’ve released a series of highly collectable hand packaged records
on Static Caravan including the limited edition Treeology ep, which fetches
over £100 on ebay. They have several UK tours under their belts including
support slots with rising stars iLiKETRAiNS (Beggars Banquet). They’ve
performed at Green Man Festival, Knowsley Hall and Supersonic Festival alongside
Mogwai, and have played in cinemas, abandoned churches, Victorian concert halls
and on the bandstand of Birmingham’s Botanical Gardens.
They’ve recorded sessions for Janice Long on BBC Radio 2 and Radio 4’s
Loose Ends, and have been played by Steve Lamacq, Phill Jupitus, Marc Riley
and XFM. Their song Treeology was chosen as the soundtrack to MTV’s climate
change campaign going out across the world.
