APOLLO 440
WRITERS / PRODUCERS / ARTISTS
Apollo 440 are Noko
and brothers Howard Gray & Trevor Gray. They have been signed to Reverb
Music since 1991.
Their fifth album - The Future's What It Used To Be - is on release from Jan
2012.
Reverb Music's Ewan MacFarlane, a longtime 440 collaborator, is co-writer and
vocalist on Apollo's new album.
440 are among the most synced acts around, testimony to the depth of great work
right across their 5 albums, from adrenaline-charged rocktronica to orchestral
chillout.
Every track on 2 of their albums was synced. And over 50 different Apollo tracks
have featured repeatedly on movies, trailers, TV, games & ads worldwide.
Some 30 ads include corporate giants Budweiser, Cadbury's, Coca Cola, Cingular,
Hyundai, Kellogg's, Mars, Miller, Oldsmobile, Philips, Vauxhall, Vodafone &
Volvo.
Amongst the wide ranging 40 or so movies & trailers are War Of The Worlds,
SWAT, Spider-Man, Gone In 60 Seconds, Cop Out, Get Him To The Greek, Transformers
& Mr Popper's Penguins, whilst their global TV syncs are too numerous to
mention.
In respect of commissioned pieces they have a deserved reputation for working
to client brief with creativity, technical expertise and respect for deadlines.
Sync commissions over the years have included: being asked to reinvent the themes
to the movies Charlie's Angels and Lost In Space; write the end titles track
for Disney's 101 Dalmatians II animated feature; compose a bespoke TV ad for
Philips; write tracks for games - including being possibly the first act ever
to be invited to write an entire game soundtrack - Rapid Racer for Sony PlayStation
- and scoring a second soundtrack for Sony in 2004 with Anti-Grav; and coming
up with a handful of BBC & ITV themes including two coveted ones in the
UK - ITV's Formula 1 Grand Prix theme 2000 & 2001 and, with their collaboration
with Jean Michel Jarre, ITV's World Cup '98 - and in 2006 they created the i-dent
for ITV Sport. More recently they have written for Tigi.
In 2003 they collaborated with guitar legend Jeff Beck - writing and producing
3 tracks for his Jeff' album, and have also co-written with icon Siouxsie Sioux.
Noko is proving to be a formidable film composer - having recently, and brilliantly,
scored two French thrillers - Une Affaire D'Etat and La Proie (StudioCanal)
for director Eric Valette.
