ART BRUT

BAND / WRITERS

Indie heroes Art Brut, led by talismanic frontman Eddie Argos,  began life in 2003 as part of London's now infamous DIY New Cross scene. Five minutes after meeting, they'd written their first single Formed A Band. Released on legendary label Rough Trade, the song was single of the week in NME and became a rallying cry across indie London.

Now signed to Mute / EMI in the UK, Art Brut are a truly international band having appeared on the front cover of Rolling Stone in Germany, graced The New Yorker in the form of their own cartoon strip, and being one of Pitchfork Media's most loved acts.

Their Sophomore release, It's A Bit Complicated, was released in the summer of 2007 and saw the band mature, but not much! "The first album was kind of me when I was 17", said the 27 year old Eddie, "And I suppose this one is me when I'm 19. If we do another one, I expect it will be me when I was 21!"

"Mr. Argos creates one of the year's most dead on parodies of a rock ‘n' roll enthusiasm, but also one of the year's most memorable examples of it" - The New York Times

“Art Brut succeed by plugging into the base, human instincts we all share” - NME
