CHRIS BUCKNALL
SONGWRITER / PRODUCER
Chris started playing guitar at the
age of six, studied piano, violin, harmony and composition in his home town
of Nottingham.
He began playing keyboards in various
bands at the age of seventeen and became professional at the age of 21.
Chris first toured with his own band
at the age of 23 . He continued to play live and develop recording and production
work opening “the Nursery” recording studios commercially in 1996
up to this point he had worked extensively with IRS Records.
He became part of Pete Haycocks’
“Climax Blues Band” Which became the regular band IRS used for many
of their recording and live projects which included “Wishbone Ash , Steve
Howe (of “Yes”) Robbie Kreiger (“the Doors”) Jan Akkerman
(Focus ) and Phil Manzanera (Roxy Music) to name a few and included the very
successful “Night of the Guitars” series of Live tours and albums.
Other collaborations include performing
on the score to Feature film “Taking care of Business” featuring
James Belushi, work on , Pete Haycock’s Album Guitar and Son, the album
Guitar Speak for IRS Records and development of “River City People”
signed to EMI .
Also during this period Chris played in Mike Steven’s Band touring with
“The Temptations”, Dionne Warwick, Freddie Jackson and Brenda Russell
(Mike Is Currently MD for “Take That” and “Annie Lennox”)
In 1999 Chris formed “Runaway
Productions” with John Briley who was Vice president of International
Artist Development at EMI and previously MD at Zomba/Jive Europe.
Runaway has enjoyed a long and fruitful relationship with Toshiba EMI, Konami
and Sony producing and writing over 60 releases to date including the theme
to Konami’s “Castlevania” featuring Russell Watson.
More recent collaborations include
The Blueskins signed to Domino Records and Venus in Motion on Blanco Y Negro
Records.
In 2003 Chris formed B&B Productions
with Livingstone Brown largely as a result of spotting a fourteen year old prodigy
playing in a local pub called Sam Beeton . Even at fourteen it was obvious
to Chris that Sam was a special talent and so he was delighted when Sam signed
to B&B Productions later that year.
During the next two years Sam was afforded the support, resources and experience
of both Chris and Livingstone which allowed him to develop into the artist he
has become today.
B&B signed a world wide deal with Sony/BMG in 2006 and at present Sam’s first single “What You Look For “ is being played regularly on all major Radio stations and to date has been Joe Whiley’s and Scott Mills Record of the week. The single will be released on the 8th of September and the album “No Definite Answer on the 29th September
