HOWARD GRAY
PRODUCER

Originally learning his craft as engineer for Steve Lillywhite (with Simple Minds, Pretenders etc), and as Virgin's House Engineer on albums such as OMD's Architecture and Morality (which included Joan Of Arc), Howard emerged as a Producer in his own right in the early 80s. Throughout the decade he produced memorable hits including If You Let Me Stay by Terence Trent Arby, Red Red Wine by UB40, and also worked on The Cure's seminal Head On The Door LP.

In 1990 he would successfully combine his Producer role with that of recording artiste and songwriter as a member of Apollo 440. Over the past 20 years his expertise behind the desk has enhanced Apollo's 5 acclaimed albums, hit singles (Stop The Rock, Lost In Space, Ain't Talkin' 'Bout Dub), their various soundtrack and movie projects, and their extensive body of Remixes for acts as diverse as Manic Street Preachers, Puff Daddy & Jimmy Page, Puretone and Ennio Morricone. With Apollo he collaborated with Jean Michel Jarre and Hotei and also wrote and produced 3 tracks for Jeff Beck's 'Jeff' album.

Howard's Productions include UB40, Terence Trent D'Arby, Danny Wilson, The Cure, Tom Jones, Manic Street Preachers, Screaming Blue Messiahs, Head, Age Of Chance, The Pale Fountains Wolfgang Press, OMD and Herbert Gronemeyer, and his Mix credits include Scritti Politti and Tom Verlaine.

In recent years, alongside producing, writing and touring as a member of Apollo 440, Howard has worked with many up and coming bands on the UK scene such as Art But, Eskimo Disco, Drive By Argument, The Cherubs, The Cazals, Eighties Matchbox B-Line Disaster, Eight Legs, Circlesound, Assembly Now, Qi Qi, Peers and Josh Bray.
