NOKO
Composer Musician Producer
2011 sees Noko complete his second feature length Movie score with La Proie - a serial killer thriller directed by Eric Valette (One Missed Call) and released in cinemas in April.
Noko's first full
length feature film, the stylish political thriller Une Affaire D'Etat, also
directed by Eric Valette, met with excellent reviews for the soundtrack on its
cinematic release in 2009.
Porté par le score envoûtant de Noko (un thème principal
d'exception et des notes lancinantes qui nous suivent bien longtemps après
la fin de la projection)........
Only three other tracks were included on the movie soundtrack - including one
by Ennio Morricone, and another especially written and performed for the end
titles by Noko & Howard Devoto.
Immersed in the soundtrack's
whole creative process, Noko also produced both scores and played all the instrumentation
except for strings on Une Affaire D'Etat and strings & brass on La Proie,
although he also arranged their parts for both movies.
Both Original Soundtrack
Albums are out on Milan Music.
As a founder member
of Apollo 440, Noko has had much international success since the band formed
in 1990, not only notching up 11 Top 40 UK Singles with three Top 10s and a
chart presence worldwide during their eleven years at Sony, but in the way Apollo's
music has been embraced extensively over the last 15 years for Movies &
Trailers and on TV, Games & Ads worldwide - the latter including major globally
branded cars, beers, soft drinks, phones, audio and software. Neither were these
uses confined to a select few and obvious singles - instead music supervisors
consistently and repeatedly sought out in excess of a staggering 40 different
album tracks. Commissions have also come Apollo's way - including calls from
Hollywood to remake the themes for Lost In Space and the Charlie’s Angels
movies, and calls to compose bespoke music for Ads, theme tunes for the BBC
and ITV, and whole Gaming Soundtracks.
2012 will see the
release of Apollo 440's long awaited fifth studio album The Future's What It
Used To Be. They continue to play live, headlining festivals across Europe every
year.
Noko also plays guitar
in the reformed Magazine - some 20years after he originally joined forces with
the Magazine frontman Howard Devoto for the two albums they made together as
Luxuria.
