QUIZ & LAROSSI
PRODUCERS / WRITERS
Josef Larossi and
Andreas 'Quiz' Romdhane are the internationally successful Swedish Writing/Production
team Quiz & Larossi. Over the years they have become highly regarded writers
& producers for chart acts worldwide, from Pussycat Dolls to Il Divo.
Quiz & Larossi
first met and teamed up in the late 90s to write for Lutricia McNeal. Their
melting pot of musical influences - hip hop roots for Andreas (a classically
trained guitarist who'd had recent album success as a Swedish grammy-nominated
rapper) and Josef's pop sensibilities (dj, drummer, and who had then just come
off writing and producing Another Level) -fashioned their trademark style of
writing melodic pop songs over beats. Their work with Lutricia & Cleopatra
brought them to the attention of the world renowned Murlyn production house,
whom they joined in '99 writing for the likes of Atomic Kitten, Billie Piper
and Samantha Mumba before leaving Murlyn a couple of years later to go it alone.
Max Martin introduced them to Simon Cowell (who has worked with them consistently
ever since) who in turn introduced them to Pete Waterman. Songs - and hits -
would follow for Josef & Andreas with Hear'Say, Steps, Gareth Gates, Shayne
Ward, Geri Halliwell, and with the hugely succesful Westlife, with whom they
forged a longstanding association, producing a number of tracks across various
Westlife #1 albums, including the #2 Christmas single duet with Diana Ross and
#1 UK single The Rose.
Josef & Andreas also moved effortlessly into classical crossover, becoming part of the team for global phenomenon Il Divo. They co-wrote and produced two tracks on the multi-platinum eponymous debut album (one of their tracks being the only single to be released from it), wrote three tracks on the multi-platinum album Ancora, had one track on Siempre, and shared writing honours on The Promise, Il Divo's third #1 album. And again in classical crossover vein,
Quiz & Larossi
produced most of the Christmas Edition of Paul Potts' hugely successful debut
album One Chance which went to #1 in several territories.
2008 proved to be
a watershed year for Q&L. As well as Il Divo, and going back to the pop
beats, they also had a UK Gold Single writing & producing Up for The Saturdays,
and wrote & produced the hit Hush Hush for Pussycat Dolls. They then rounded
off the year producing the 2 biggest selling UK singles of 2008 - Hero (which
ended up as the charity record of the decade) by the X Factor Finalists, and
Alexandra Burke's Xmas #1 Hallelujah - not only outselling the rest of the top
20 combined in its first week of release, but the fastest selling single by
a female artist in UK chart history.
Amongst their 2009
projects came two tracks for The Saturdays sophomore album, a song on Kelly
Clarkson's All I Ever Wanted US Gold Album, a #1 with The X Factor Finalists'
charity single You Are Not Alone, and an eventual #1 with X Factor's Joe McElderry's
The Climb after its Xmas face-off with Rage Against The Machine. They also enjoyed
a global hit with the re-release of their PCD track as Hush Hush Hush Hush.
2010 projects included several tracks with Aggro Santos, with whom they had
top 5 UK single Candy, and Kat Deluna. Recent/current projects include cuts
with Talay Riley, working with YouTube phenomenon Conor Maynard, Mohombi (for
RedOne's new Universal imprint), CoverDrive and highly rated UK act Encore.
2011 Q&L have
a song on Dionne Bromfield's album, Good For The Soul, on Amy Winehouse's label
through Universal.
2012 Q&L start the year with a production and songwriting UK number 1 single
- Twilight for Polydor's new Bajan artists, CoverDrive .
